On Monday April 20, Sabino Choir has an improtant event called the Choral Classics. Sabino’s choir has been practicing a piece called Mozart’s Coronation Mass for the last two months. The Choral Classics is a TUSD tradition that’s focused on collaboration between multiple choirs, a live orchestra, and a masterwork by a classical composer.
According to Mr. Cline, Sabino’s choir teacher, the music that’s performed at the event are large works by famous and influential composers such as Schubert’s Mass in G, Mozart’s Requiem, or Rachmaninoff’s Vespers.
The multiple choirs that attend the Choral Classics are usually Sabino HS, RUHS, Tucson HS, Sahuaro HS, and Palo Verde HS. Based on what Mr. Cline said when he was asked what choir students learn from this event, he said, “The choir learn a new language, collaboration, unison, inspiration, etc.”
